Last week we were welcomed to the dictatorship of Woodbury by the governor of that lovely suburb. Andrea (Laurie Holden) flirted with the Gov (David Morrissey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) eyeballed everybody with suspicion.
Now it's time to see what's goin' down over at the prison, too.
Like what, you ask? Well, be careful what you wish for, people. And while you're at it, prepare for some shocking turns, and a few very painful goodbyes.
Revenge recap: a wedding, an engagement and a death
Love is in the zombie-fouled air, but then...: After an encouraging moment at the prison -- Hershel (Scott Wilson) starts walking, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) are making eyes at each other again -- a whole bunch of walkers shamble into the yard. Poor T-Dog (Irone Singleton) gets bitten in the shoulder, and we all know you can't amputate a shoulder. He runs into a pack of walkers who threaten to overrun Carol (Melissa McBride), essentially sacrificing the last moments of his life to save her. Meanwhile, the prisoner Oscar (Vincent Ward) shows Rick that he can be trusted by refusing to shoot the group leader in the head when he has the chance.
How does Sunday night's episode rate among the show's most OMG moments?
When Michonne gives somebody the ol' side-eye, it's for a reason: Over in Woodbury, the sword-wielding heroine is suspicious of the Gov's stories, particularly his accounts of how he's amassing all of his fancy military equipment. She wants to bail and head to the coast, but Andrea has second thoughts, especially after the Merle (Michael Rooker) gives Gov his own personal thumbs-up. Andrea decides to stay for a few days after the Governor looks at her longingly over some whiskey.
Lori makes a hard choice: Just as more zombies arrive to officially overrun the prison, Lori goes into labor. The group is divided, with Carl (Chandler Riggs), Lori and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) cut off from the rest. She isn't dilating enough, and she insists on being cut open with Carl's knife, knowing that she herself probably will not survive. A healthy girl arrives via C-section just as Lori slips away. Carl insists on being the one who delivers a bullet into his mother's head.
